The Premier Reserve League was the reserve league for Premier League teams between 1999 & 2012.

The league was originally split into northern and southern sections, replacing the old Central League in the north and The Football Combination in the south as the top level of reserve-team football, although these competitions would still continue for lower-level teams.

Teams were not relegated from the Premier Reserve League based on their final league position, but on the league position of their respective senior teams. If a senior team was relegated from the Premier League, then the reserve team is relegated also and replaced by the reserve team of the promoted team from the Championship.
