Chelsea Ladies beat Fulham Ladies last night to clinch their first piece of silerware under Manager George Michaelas.

Heather Gravett put Chelsea in front after only 5 minutes, after a goal mouth scrap. It was the dream start for the Blues, and it only got better when on eight minutes, Rebecca Hall, fired past the Fulham goal keeper to make it 2-0!

After this, the game settled and Fulham allowed Chelsea to play some wonderful football, and create many more key chances. Chelsea dominated throughout the half and really should have gone in at the break more than 2-0 up. But i'm sure the Chelsea team wouldn't have minded too much at all.

After the break, Fulham, expectedly, came all with a more attacking formation and went in search for a goal. But it never came early on, and they had to wait until the 78 minute until they finally beat Chelsea keeper Siobhan Chamberlain. Fulham were firing on all cylinders at this point and pinned Chelsea back deep, and after a strong tackle from Serina Regali on the edge of the box, the referee gave a very dubious penalty to Fulham. Jess Wright stepped up and put Fulham level with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Nothing more happened in the next ten minutes and the game went into extra-time. The first period saw very little chances and no real threat on either goal. The second period saw much of the same, however, Chantelle White missed a gloriuos chance to win the game for Chelsea and avoid the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Nether the less, the penalties came and Fulham had the first kick... and missed. Chantelle White stepped up, and hit the under side of the cross bar, but it somehow stayed out. 0-0. Fulham stepped up and converted, whilst Heather Gravett kicked and missed. 0-1. Fulham then kicked and missed again, whilst Nicky De La Salle levelled the shoot-out for Chelsea. 1-1. Fulham missed once again, and so did Chelsea's Anne Harvey. With the final two penalties left, Siobhan Chamberlain made a magnificant save from the Fulham kick to keep it 1-1 with Debbie Carey, stepping up to win the game for Chelsea... and she did, sending the keeper the wrong way to win the cup for the Blues!

George Michaelas has now won a piece of silverware in his first season with every club he has managed, winning the league cup with Midddle Park Juniors, League and Cup with Chelsea Ladies U.14's, League Cup with Chelsea Ladies U.15's, League and Cup with Chelsea Ladies Youth team and now the Surrey Cup with Chelsea Ladies 1st Team.

George hopes to transfer their great cup run into the National Southern Division Premier next season in their bid for promotion.
