The London League was formed in 1896 and continued until 1964 when it merged with the Aetolian League. During its existance it rose at one stage to four divisions and during the pre-World War One period most of the senior London Football League clubs fielded a reserve side in the London League.

Chelsea participated in the league for 4 seasons, winning it once in 1909/10.
